History
Stamp sands are a form of post industrial waste left over from the copper mining days of the 1800’s and early 1900’s. Basalt rock mined deep beneath the Keweenaw Peninsula was crushed to release the sought after copper. Massive piles of the remaining sand tailings were left on beaches of Lake Superior.
By purchasing your sand from Torch Lake Industries, Incorporated your company earns valuable LEEDS credits from the USGBC (United States Green Building Council)—because our product is recognized as post industrial waste. That means you are helping the environment at the same time.
By shipping via waterways, we keep highways less congested and help reduce environmental air pollution at the same time.
Torch Lake Industries is a GREEN company with concerns for the future environment.
We hope that you can help us to make this vision a reality.
